# Turn a competitor’s change into a useful next move.

Watch the pages that matter. Find the meaningful change. Give your team the evidence and a reason to care.

## The workflow

1. changedetection.io: Compare a public page with its previous version.
2. Ollama or your AI: Summarize the difference using only the supplied text.
3. Slack or email: Share the source and the buyer question it raises.

## What you need

Start with two page snapshots and the free prompt. Automation needs a running monitor, a configured model, and notification delivery. Hosting and setup take resources.

## Setup

1. Choose a competitor page and a section that could affect a buying decision.
2. Keep a dated copy of the old and new text, with the source URL. You can do this manually first.
3. Use the prompt below with those two snapshots. Check every claim against the source.
4. If the output helps, configure monitoring and notification delivery in changedetection.io. AI features depend on the installed version and configuration.
5. Review the first alerts before sharing them with sales. A page edit alone is not evidence of buyer intent.

## Prompt

Compare these two snapshots of a competitor page. Use only the supplied text.

SOURCE URL: [paste]
CHECKED AT: [date]
BEFORE: [paste old section]
AFTER: [paste new section]
BUYER NEED WE CARE ABOUT: [describe]

Return:
1. The exact observed change, with short supporting excerpts.
2. What remains unknown.
3. Which buyer requirement could be affected, phrased as a hypothesis.
4. One question to check with the sales team.

Keep it under 150 words. Do not invent prices, intent, urgency, or competitor motives. If there is no meaningful change, say so.

## Example

Example · fictional competitor

### SSO just moved to Enterprise.

RivalCo previously included SSO in Pro. The new page lists it under Enterprise. Pricing for Enterprise is not published.

Next move: Check open deals where SSO is a requirement before changing your pitch.

## GTM Psychology: Reference points

A change becomes relevant inside a buyer’s comparison. Connect it to something they value before turning it into outreach.
